Ferrosilicio magnesio

Ferro Silicon Magnesium (FeSiMg) is a nodularizing alloy that converts the graphite in molten iron from flake to spheroidal form. Added to the ladle, its magnesium reacts with dissolved sulfur and oxygen, then the residual Mg nucleates compact graphite nodules, while the rare-earth fraction neutralizes trace subversive elements (Pb, Bi, Sb) and stabilizes nodule count. The result is ductile (nodular) iron with the tensile strength and elongation that grey iron cannot reach. It serves ductile iron production, in-ladle nodularization, and general cast iron modification across automotive, pipe, and machinery casting. Typical treatment additions run roughly 1.0-1.8 wt% of the metal charge, tuned to base sulfur, tapping temperature, and the sandwich or tundish-cover method used. This grade carries Si 44-48%, Mg 5-7%, RE 1-2%, Ca 1-3%, Al ≤1.0%, sized 5-25 mm for controlled dissolution and reduced Mg fade, on a GB/T 4138 nodulizer basis. Each lot ships with COA (EN 10204 3.1) and MTC, with Mg/RE verification and Mg-fade discipline. Multi-regional sourcing supports CIF delivery and Gebze bonded stock for fast replenishment, 20 MT FCL or 5 MT LCL. Send your base-iron analysis and target grade for an RFQ.

Domande frequenti

How do I select the right FeSiMg grade for my ductile iron?
Grade choice follows your base-iron sulfur and treatment method. This nodulizer runs Mg 5-7% with RE 1-2% and Ca 1-3%, on a GB/T 4138 basis, which suits sandwich and tundish-cover treatment of low-to-moderate sulfur base iron. Higher base sulfur or thicker sections generally needs more residual Mg, so confirm target residual (typically 0.03-0.05% Mg) and nodule count before fixing the grade. Share your base analysis and we map the spec to your process.
What is the typical dosage and application rate?
Treatment additions are commonly around 1.0-1.8 wt% of the metal charge, with the exact rate set by base sulfur, tapping temperature, ladle geometry, and recovery of the chosen method (sandwich, tundish-cover, or cored-wire alternatives). Aim for a residual Mg near 0.03-0.05% after fade. Because Mg fade begins within minutes, pour promptly and verify with a thermal-analysis or spectro check. The 5-25 mm sizing gives controlled dissolution and steadier recovery.
What packaging, lead time, and minimum order apply?
Standard packaging is 1 MT jumbo big bags, palletized, loaded as FCL. Minimum order is 20 MT FCL or 5 MT LCL. Lead time depends on route: CIF sea delivery runs about 28-35 days, alternative road/ferry roughly 12-21 days, while Gebze bonded stock supports replenishment in 24-48 hours when available. Send your destination and required grade so we quote incoterms (FOB, CIF, CFR, DAP) and the fastest qualifying route.
What quality documentation and testing come with each lot?
Every lot ships with a COA to EN 10204 3.1 and an MTC, plus CoO and, where relevant, a radiation certificate and EUR.1 / A.TR for EU movement. Chemistry is confirmed by XRF/ICP with Mg/RE verification, and we apply Mg-fade discipline on handling and sizing. If you require third-party inspection (SGS, Bureau Veritas) or a witnessed sample, specify it on the RFQ and we arrange pre-shipment testing.
What are the alternatives if FeSiMg does not fit my process?
For automated or high-volume lines, cored-wire FeSiMg or a Mg/RE wire feed offers tighter residual control and lower fade than ladle addition. Lower-RE or RE-free nodulizers suit clean, low-sulfur base iron, while higher-RE grades help against subversive trace elements. Post-inoculation with FeSi-based inoculants raises nodule count independently of the nodulizer. Tell us your base-iron analysis, section thickness, and target grade and we recommend the closest qualifying option.
