Ferro Silicon Manganese

Ferro Silicon Manganese (FeSiMn) is a dual-function ladle and furnace addition that combines manganese alloying with silicon-driven deoxidation in a single charge. The Si fraction (14-22%) scavenges dissolved oxygen to form fluid manganese-silicate inclusions that float into the slag, while Mn (65-72%) raises hardenability and ties up sulphur, reducing FeMn and FeSi consumption per heat. Lower silica activity gives cleaner steel than separate FeMn plus FeSi additions. It is used in EAF and BF-BOF deoxidation, low- and high-Mn structural and manganese steels, alloy and welding-electrode production. Typical EAF dosage runs 0.5-1.2 wt% of the heat, adjusted to tap oxygen and target chemistry. This grade holds C ≤ 2.0%, P ≤ 0.20%, S ≤ 0.03% at 10-60 mm sizing, meeting ASTM A483 / ISO 5447 for consistent recovery. Each lot ships with COA and MTC, XRF/ICP-verified, on multi-regional sourcing with CIF Marmara delivery, Gebze bonded stock, and 20 MT FCL or 5 MT LCL lots. Is silicomanganese the same as ferro silicon manganese?
Yes. Ferro silicon manganese, silicomanganese, silico manganese and SiMn are names for the same alloy (FeSiMn). It carries manganese and silicon together and is used in steelmaking as a deoxidiser and manganese source in a single addition.
What do FeSiMn 6517 and 7018 mean?
The code gives the minimum manganese and silicon content: 6517 means at least 65% Mn and 17% Si, 7018 at least 70% Mn and 18% Si. Both fall inside Arsam's FeSiMn range (Mn 65-72%, Si 14-22%). Carbon, phosphorus and sulphur are not part of the code; our standard limits are C ≤ 2.0%, P ≤ 0.20%, S ≤ 0.03% and are stated in the quote. If your specification sets a lower floor such as Mn ≥ 62%, the lot COA still reports the actual analysis.
What is the typical FeSiMn dosage in an EAF?
The usual range is 0.5-1.2% of heat weight, typically aiming at 0.5-1.0% Mn in the bath. The exact amount is set by the plant's metallurgy team from tap oxygen, the manganese target and the steel grade.
FeSiMn or separate FeMn and FeSi: which is more economical?
FeSiMn does two jobs in one addition: manganese alloys, silicon binds oxygen. Compared with separate FeMn and FeSi it means fewer inclusions, one stock item, one packaging and one shipment. We calculate the per-tonne difference in the quote from current FeMn, FeSi and FeSiMn prices. Grades that need manganese and silicon adjusted independently are better served by separate additions.
What size and packaging does it come in?
Standard size is 10-60 mm, packed in 1 MT big bags on pallets or shipped in FCL containers. If you need another size (for example 10-50 mm or 10-80 mm), state it in the request and we confirm availability in the quote.
What is the FeSiMn lead time?
Sea freight CIF Mersin or İskenderun takes 28-35 days; the alternative road and ferry route takes 12-21 days. When stock is held, the Gebze bonded warehouse ships within 24-48 hours.
Do you quote FeSiMn CFR Aqaba or other Red Sea and Gulf ports?
Yes. For FeSiMn 65/16 and other grades we quote CFR/CIF to destination ports such as Aqaba, Jebel Ali, Umm Qasr or Mersin. Send the grade, tonnage, destination port and delivery window; if there is a tender specification, attach it and we answer clause by clause. Every lot ships with COA and EN 10204 3.1.
