Lingotto di magnesio 99,9%

Primary magnesium ingot at Mg ≥ 99.9% is a high-purity reductant and alloying metal. Its strong affinity for oxygen and sulphur drives the core mechanisms: in hot-metal desulphurization, injected Mg reacts to form stable MgS that floats into slag, cutting S toward ≤ 0.005% for clean-steel and pipeline grades. In ductile-iron production it is the active element behind nodulizer (FeSiMg) chemistry, converting flake graphite to spheroidal form. In aluminum alloys it is the primary strengthening element of the 5xxx series and pairs with Si as Mg2Si in 6xxx, and it sets strength in many die-cast grades. Typical additions run roughly 0.1-0.5% Mg in cast-iron treatment and up to several wt% in Al alloys, with melt loss compensated per practice. The tight residual ceiling — Al ≤ 0.02%, Si ≤ 0.01%, Fe ≤ 0.005%, Cu ≤ 0.005%, Ni ≤ 0.001% — keeps recovery predictable and protects downstream alloy targets; the same purity suits titanium-sponge (Kroll) reduction. Supplied as 7.5 / 12 kg ingot with COA and MTC, multi-regional sourcing, CIF Marmara or Gebze bonded stock, 20 MT FCL. Send your grade and tonnage for an RFQ.

Domande frequenti

What grade and impurity limits should I specify for primary magnesium ingot?
This grade is primary Mg ≥ 99.9%, with Al ≤ 0.02%, Si ≤ 0.01%, Fe ≤ 0.005%, Cu ≤ 0.005% and Ni ≤ 0.001%. The low Fe, Cu and Ni ceilings matter for corrosion-sensitive aluminum alloys and for clean nodulizer chemistry, where heavy-metal contamination degrades graphite spheroidization. For aluminum-alloy addition and ductile-iron MgFeSi feedstock, 99.9% (often written 9990) is the standard reference; confirm these limits against your alloy or melt-shop spec sheet.
What is the typical dosage and how is magnesium added in practice?
Dosage depends on the route. For hot-metal desulphurization, magnesium consumption is driven by initial S and target S, typically a few tenths of a kg per tonne via injection. As nodulizer feedstock, ingot is alloyed into MgFeSi where residual Mg in ductile iron lands near 0.03-0.05 wt%. For aluminum alloys, Mg addition is set by the target alloy chemistry. Account for recovery losses and the Mg-fade window, since dissolved Mg oxidizes and fades over holding time.
How is the ingot packaged, and what are lead time and MOQ?
Standard form is 7.5 kg or 12 kg ingots, strapped and bundled on pallets for forklift handling and stable stacking. Lead time depends on whether material draws from Gebze bonded stock or arrives on an inbound lot; we confirm against current position at order. Typical movement is 20 MT FCL for full-container economics or 5 MT LCL for smaller trials. Delivery is quotable CIF Marmara or ex bonded stock per your Incoterms preference.
What quality documentation and testing come with each lot?
Each lot ships with a COA or mill test certificate (MTC) reporting Mg assay and the controlled impurities (Al, Si, Fe, Cu, Ni). Composition is verified by spark-OES or ICP against the stated limits. Where your acceptance procedure requires it, retained samples or third-party verification can be arranged. Provide your inspection clauses and any ASTM, DIN or ISO reference at enquiry so documentation and sampling match your incoming-goods and audit requirements.
When should I use ingot versus an alloyed or alternative magnesium product?
Use primary ingot when you control your own alloying or injection and want flexibility across aluminum addition, desulphurization and nodulizer make-up. If you spheroidize ductile iron directly, a pre-alloyed MgFeSi (nodulizer) gives more controlled, lower-violence recovery than pure Mg. For desulphurization, ingot feeds cored-wire or injection systems. Magnesium granules or chips suit metered injection where ingot must first be processed. We can supply across these forms via multi-regional sourcing to match your process.
