Antimontrioxid

Antimony trioxide (Sb2O3, CAS 1309-64-4) is a fine white oxide powder serving two roles: a flame-retardant synergist and a polycondensation catalyst. In halogenated systems it reacts with the halogen source to form antimony trihalides and oxyhalides in the gas phase, scavenging the H and OH radicals that propagate combustion while promoting a protective char layer. Loading typically runs 2-6 wt% Sb2O3 alongside a halogen donor, tuned to the target UL-94 rating and polymer matrix. As a PET catalyst it accelerates esterification and polycondensation at roughly 200-300 ppm Sb on resin weight. Uses span flame-retardant plastics and textiles, PET resin and fiber, glass and ceramic decolorizing, and pigments and paint. This grade assays Sb2O3 >= 99.5% with As2O3 <= 0.05%, PbO <= 0.05%, and Fe2O3 <= 0.005%; whiteness >= 95% and a controlled 0.3-1.5 micron particle size give consistent dispersion and color hold. Each lot ships with COA and MTC. Multi-regional sourcing supports CIF Marmara delivery, Gebze bonded stock, and 20 MT FCL lots. Send your grade and tonnage for an RFQ.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

Which Sb2O3 grade and specification should I select for my application?
This grade runs Sb2O3 ≥ 99.5% with As2O3 ≤ 0.05%, PbO ≤ 0.05%, Fe2O3 ≤ 0.005%, whiteness ≥ 95% and a 0.3-1.5 µm particle band. The low As/Pb and high whiteness suit flame-retardant masterbatch and white/light-colored compounds. For PET polymerization catalyst use, the tight Fe2O3 ≤ 0.005% limit matters most, since iron drives yellowness and haze in the resin. Send your end-use and color target and we will confirm fit.
What is the typical dosage or addition rate for Sb2O3?
As a flame-retardant synergist, Sb2O3 is normally paired with a halogen source at roughly a 1:3 antimony-to-halogen weight ratio, putting Sb2O3 loadings around 2-6 wt% of the polymer depending on the UL target and halogen system. As a PET polycondensation catalyst it is dosed far lower, on the order of 200-300 ppm antimony in the melt. Optimize against your own FR rating and IV/color data; these are starting ranges, not fixed values.
How is it packaged, and what are lead time and MOQ?
Standard packing is 25 kg multi-wall paper bags or laminated PE bags, palletized and shrink-wrapped; jumbo bag (FIBC) options are available for bulk handlers. Quantities scale from LCL part-loads to 20 MT FCL on full pallets. We hold Gebze bonded stock to shorten delivery for Marmara-region buyers, with CIF Marmara terms offered. Share your destination, quantity and packing preference and we will confirm current lead time and minimum order.
What quality documentation and testing do you provide?
Each lot ships with a COA stating Sb2O3 assay plus As2O3, PbO and Fe2O3 limits, whiteness and particle size against the published specification. Assay is verified by titration, trace metals by ICP/AAS, whiteness by colorimeter and particle size by laser diffraction. We supply SDS and CAS 1309-64-4 reference for customs and EHS. Third-party MTC or pre-shipment inspection at a recognized lab can be arranged on request.
Are there substitutes or alternative grades if Sb2O3 does not fit?
Where regulatory or cost pressure limits antimony, halogen-free FR routes such as ATH, magnesium hydroxide or phosphorus-based systems are common alternatives, though they need higher loadings and reformulation. In PET, titanium and germanium catalysts can replace antimony for specific clarity or food-contact targets. Within antimony itself, sodium antimonate serves glass and some catalyst uses. We can quote adjacent grades from multi-regional sourcing once you define the constraint driving the switch.
