GPC

Graphitized Petroleum Coke (GPC) is a recarburizer produced by heat-treating petroleum coke at graphitization temperatures, which orders the carbon into a graphitic lattice. That structure gives fast, high-efficiency dissolution in molten iron and steel and minimal nitrogen pickup — useful where low-N carbon control matters. With F.C ≥ 98.5% and S ≤ 0.05%, GPC raises carbon without loading sulphur, supporting clean nodule formation in ductile iron and consistent matrix carbon in grey iron. It serves ductile and grey iron casting, steel carburization, and brake pad/friction material formulations. Typical recarburizer additions run roughly 0.3-2.0 wt% of charge, set by base carbon and target chemistry, with high recovery from the graphitic structure. The 1-5 mm sizing and ≤ 0.5% ash, V.M, and moisture suit ladle and in-furnace additions with stable yield. Each lot ships with COA and MTC; F.C, S, and ash are verified per shipment. Multi-regional sourcing supports CIF Marmara delivery and Gebze bonded stock in 20 MT FCL. Send your target grade and tonnage for an RFQ.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

How do I select the right GPC grade for my furnace?
Match fixed carbon and sulphur to your metallurgy. This GPC runs F.C ≥ 98.5% with S ≤ 0.05% and ash, V.M, and moisture each ≤ 0.5%, so it suits low-sulphur, low-nitrogen carbon control in ductile and grey iron. For ductile iron nodularity, the low-S graphitic grade is preferred. Where a lower carbon pickup at lower cost is acceptable, a calcined coke or calcined anthracite raiser may fit instead.
What dosage and addition method should I use?
Recarburizer additions typically range about 0.3-2.0 wt% of charge, calculated from base carbon and target C. The graphitic lattice dissolves quickly with high recovery, so add to the ladle stream or onto the furnace charge for even pickup. The 1-5 mm sizing limits flotation losses and gives stable yield. Confirm recovery on your first heats and adjust, since stirring, temperature, and hold time all affect final carbon.
What are the packaging, lead time, and MOQ?
GPC is supplied in standard industrial packaging suited to ladle and in-furnace dosing. Delivery is available CIF Marmara with Gebze bonded stock drawdown in 20 MT FCL, and smaller LCL lots where required. Lead time depends on grade, sizing, and volume across multi-regional sourcing. Send your target tonnage and delivery point and we will confirm MOQ and the schedule in the RFQ.
How is quality assured and documented?
Each shipment ships with a COA and MTC. Fixed carbon, sulphur, and ash are verified per lot, the parameters that govern carbon recovery and steel/iron cleanliness. If you require specific sampling, sizing tolerances, or additional element checks, state them on the RFQ so the inspection scope is fixed before dispatch. Each lot is traceable to its COA and MTC for downstream record-keeping.
What can substitute for GPC if it is unavailable?
Where ultra-low sulphur and low nitrogen are not critical, calcined petroleum coke (S ≤ 0.5%) or calcined anthracite carbon raiser (F.C 90-95%) can substitute at adjusted dosage and recovery. For ductile iron requiring tight nodularity, stay with the low-S graphitic grade, since higher-sulphur raisers can interfere with Mg treatment. Share your target chemistry and we will recommend the closest grade and corrected addition rate.
