HC Ferro Chrome

High carbon ferrochrome (HC FeCr) is the primary chromium carrier for stainless and chromium-alloy steelmaking. It introduces Cr ≥ 60% (typically 60-65%) into the melt at lower cost than refined grades, with carbon at C ≤ 8.0% acting as a built-in reductant that supports recovery in EAF and converter practice. Chromium raises corrosion resistance, hardenability and high-temperature strength; carbon is later trimmed by AOD/VOD decarburization, so HC FeCr fits the bulk-Cr stage of the route. Foundries and mills draw on it for 300/400-series stainless, alloy and tool steels, chromium master alloys and coated welding electrodes. HC FeCr alloy addition commonly lands around 20-25 wt% of a 304-type charge, adjusted to scrap chemistry and target Cr. Lump sizing of 10-100mm suits furnace charging and bath dissolution, while P ≤ 0.04% and S ≤ 0.05% protect weldability and ductility. Each lot ships against COA and MTC to ASTM A101 / ISO 5448, XRF/ICP-verified, through multi-regional sourcing — CIF Marmara or Gebze bonded stock, 20 MT FCL. Send target Cr, C ceiling and sizing for a same-grade RFQ.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are HC FeCr Cr content and grade selected?
Cr ≥60% (typically 60-65%), C ≤8.0%, Si ≤3.0%. Arsam multi-source network with low-carbon, CBAM-documentable grades prioritized. Supplier selection based on customer CBAM sensitivity.
What is Arsam's position on EU CBAM for HC FeCr?
Priority on low-carbon, CBAM-documentable HC FeCr grades, with an embedded-emissions document a buyer can place in its EU declaration. A Carbon Passport pilot (DNV-verified) is on the plan for Q4 2026, and demand for low-carbon input is rising on the EU buyer side.
What is the HC FeCr dosage in stainless steel production?
For stainless 304 (18% Cr), 20-25 wt% HC FeCr usage is typical (depending on bath Cr target). At a large stainless line, the monthly consumption band is 200-500 tons. Dosage differs for alloy steel types.
What is the HC FeCr logistics lead time for MENA?
Dubai bonded warehouse 3-5 days for MENA customers. İstanbul → Dubai re-export 21-28 days. Alternative sea route to Jebel Ali 14-21 days.
What is the HC FeCr delivery lead time to an EU plant?
We quote CIF to your EU port of discharge (Rotterdam, Antwerp, Genoa) or DAP to your plant gate. Material moves under the Turkey-EU Customs Union with A.TR documentation, and EUR.1 where eligible, so no import duty applies on EU entry. Exact transit depends on routing and whether the grade is drawn from bonded stock or a fresh sea lot; we confirm the schedule at RFQ together with COA and EN 10204 3.1 MTC.
