Calciumsilizid-Fülldraht

Calcium silicide cored wire is a steel-sheathed wire packed with CaSi powder (Ca 28-32%, Si 55-65%) fed into the ladle for secondary metallurgy. The steel sheath shields the reactive calcium until it reaches bath depth, where higher ferrostatic pressure and controlled feed rate raise calcium recovery well above lump or shot additions made at the surface. Dissolved Ca converts hard, angular alumina (Al2O3) and silica inclusions into low-melting, globular calcium aluminates, preventing nozzle clogging during continuous casting and improving transverse toughness and machinability. This makes it standard practice for Al-killed and Si-killed steels at EAF mills and steel foundries casting clean, calcium-treated grades. Typical addition runs roughly 0.5-2.0 kg Ca per tonne, tuned by feeder speed to the target Ca/S ratio and inclusion chemistry. The 13 mm wire (powder fill ≈ 230 g/m, C ≤ 1.0%, Al ≤ 2.0%) gives consistent fill for repeatable deep-bath release. Each lot ships with COA and MTC under multi-regional sourcing, CIF Marmara or ex Gebze bonded stock, 20 MT FCL. Send your grade and Ca/S target for an RFQ.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

How do I choose the right CaSi cored wire grade for my ladle treatment?
Match the wire to your steel chemistry and inclusion target. This grade runs Ca 28-32% and Si 55-65%, with C ≤ 1.0% and Al ≤ 2.0%, in a 13mm steel sheath carrying ≈ 230 g/m of powder. CaSi suits Al-killed steels where you modify solid alumina inclusions into liquid calcium aluminates. Where Si pickup is unwanted, request CaFe or pure-Ca wire instead; for high-Si grades CaSi is the standard choice.
What injection rate and feeding speed should I use?
Calcium addition for inclusion modification typically targets 0.10-0.40 kg Ca per tonne, with a Ca:S ratio around 1.5-3 depending on sulphur level. Convert your Ca target to wire length using the ≈ 230 g/m powder loading at 28-32% Ca. Feed at 120-250 m/min so the sheath melts deep in the ladle, maximizing Ca recovery against vapor loss. Confirm rates against your ladle depth, free-board and stirring practice.
What are the packaging, MOQ and lead-time terms?
The 13mm wire ships on vertical or horizontal coils, typically 1.5-2.5 MT each, on steel pallets with moisture-barrier wrap for sea freight. Standard movements are 20 MT FCL with LCL (around 5 MT) available from Gebze bonded stock. Lead time depends on coil format and whether you draw from held stock or a fresh production lot. Share your annual volume and feeder spec and we quote delivered CIF Marmara terms.
What quality documentation and testing come with the wire?
Each lot ships with a COA/MTC reporting Ca, Si, C and Al against the 28-32% Ca / 55-65% Si window, plus sheath thickness, wire Ø and powder fill (≈ 230 g/m). Powder fill consistency governs Ca recovery, so it is checked per coil. Chemistry is verified by ICP/wet analysis; request independent third-party inspection at loading if your QA system needs it. Documentation follows ISO 9001 practice.
When should I substitute CaFe or pure-Ca wire instead of CaSi?
Use CaFe or solid/pure-Ca cored wire when Si pickup must stay low, for example in low-Si or certain stainless grades, since CaSi adds 55-65% Si to the bath. CaSi remains the economical default for Al-killed carbon and structural steels. For very deep ladles or high ferrostatic pressure, a heavier sheath or smaller-Ø wire can lift recovery. We can cross-supply CaFe, CaAl and pure-Ca formats.
